Introduction

This privacy policy details how the Fi$hFin app collects and uses personal information and why we need certain permissions from the user.

Fi$hFin aims to be a global phenomenon in the fishing sphere and to do that we need to understand our customers as best as we can. Their likes, dislikes, preferences and the way that they do things can let us know how we can facilitate our customers and further improve our services.

This privacy policy aims to help you understand how your personal data will be used, what information we collect, and why that information is needed.

By opting to use our services, users are giving consent to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The personal information that we collect is used for providing and improving our services. Fi$hFin app is a freemium app and is made available to use as is.

Information Collection and Usage

In order to provide our services through the app, we need to collect information. The information collected will be used by us, but we may also have to share that information with third parties to facilitate those services.

Here are some kinds of information that we may collect:

  2. Phone Number
  3. Email Address
  4. Profile Picture
  5. Location
  6. Bank Account Details
  7. Credit/Debit Card Number

The information that we request will be retained by us and used as described in this privacy policy.

Permissions Required

Certain functionality of the app is only made available if the user has given adequate permissions to the application. Unless these permissions are given, the user will not be able to move forward and use these features.

Here are some of the permissions that are needed along with the reasoning why they are needed:

Location Permissions

Location permissions are needed for two reasons mainly. The first reason that the location of the user needs to be known is that the user will only be able to log their catches if they have turned on their locations. Catches are logged in real time which helps reduce chances of fraud and helps to limit foul play. The second reason would be that the user would not be able to get any search results in terms of locations being sold, gear being sold or fishing guide services near them, if they have not allowed location sharing.

Contact Permissions

To use the features of Fi$hFin and communicate with others, specifically for SOS feature and Invite Friends functionality, you acknowledge and agree that you will provide Fi$hFin with your mobile number as well as contacts stored on your mobile device. You expressly acknowledge and agree that in order to provide the Service, Fi$hFin may access your contact list and/or address book on your mobile device to find and keep track of mobile numbers of others. We will store all your details in our secure Third-Party Cloud Service and will hold your account and phone book details for the length of period your Fi$hFin account remains open.

Camera Permissions

Camera permissions are needed to take pictures in real time. This is especially important when you are hoping to log your catch. Camera permissions are also needed when you are trying to upload pictures of gear that you would like to sell or past tour pictures when you are registering as a tour guide.

Phonebook Permissions

Phonebook permissions are needed for multiple reasons. We need access to the contacts present in your phonebook so we can first of all invite your contacts to the Fi$hFin app. This is necessary because only your contacts present on the application can be sent location gift vouchers, receive an SOS message and be able to view your location if you have enabled location sharing with selected contacts.

File and Media Permissions

File and media permissions are needed mainly in the case that you would want to register as a guide. For the user to be able to upload these documents, we need access to the files stored on the user’s device.

Offline Storage Permissions

Offline storage permissions are needed in the case that the user would like to log a catch without access to an internet connection. There is a limit to the data that can be saved privately by any application, after which the new information cannot be stored privately.

Objectionable Content Policy

Fi$hfin maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding objectionable content.  Objectionable content may not be uploaded or displayed to the extent such content includes, is in conjunction with, or alongside any objectionable content. Objectional content includes, but is not limited to:

  • Sexually Explicit Materials.
  • Portrayals of Extreme Violence or content that Encourages Violence.
  • Bullying or Harassment.
  • Defamatory Commentary and hate speech about religion, gender, race, and other targeted groups.
  • Obscene, defamatory, libelous, slanderous, violent, and/or unlawful content or profanity.
  • Content that infringes upon the rights of any third party, including copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other personal or proprietary rights, or that is deceptive or fraudulent.
  • Content that promotes the use or sale of illegal or regulated products or substances.

Any user can flag content they deem objectional for review by using the “Report” or “Report & Block” function available in the app.  Content will be moderated by Fi$hfin to ensure the timely removal of any and all objectionable content.  Also if the user wants to block certain content or content from specific users then can choose the option of “Report & Block” which blocks all content from that user immediately and a moderator is informed for further action/review. User accounts that have been confirmed responsible for posting objectionable content will be restricted from access to the Fi$hfin. Third Party Service Providers

Fi$hFin app uses third party services that allow us to provide our services to you. Keep in mind that the service providers we use may collect information used to identify you.

Here are some of the third party service providers that we use:

  • Google Play Services
  • Facebook
  • Mapbox

The Fi$hFin app uses only recognized and the best third party service providers but the application will not be responsible in any shape or form for the actions, security and data handling of the third party services that we use.

The Need for Service Providers

Fi$hFin app utilizes third-party companies and services due to the following reasons:

  • To facilitate our service and product features.
  • To provide the service on our behalf.
  • To perform service-related services.
  • To assist us in analyzing how our product is used.

These third parties may have access to the user’s personal information. The reason is to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose. Please note that the Fi$hFin app will not be liable for the data handling or security on behalf of third party service providers.

Payment Handling

At no point in time will the Fi$hFin app be processing financial transactions either via credit/debit card, bank transfer or any other means. Instead these transactions will be processed by external payment service providers which in our case happens to be Stripe Connect. Fi$hFin app will not be collecting any financial information and will not be storing the information in any way, shape or form.

In the context of selling and purchase of fishing gears, the payment and exchange of goods will be carried out off of the app. Fi$hFin app will not be responsible for either the logistics or funds transfer for fishing gear.

Security

Making sure that user information is safe and secure is a top priority for us. We strive to use commercially acceptable means to store and save your personal information. Even the third party services that we choose to use maintain high standards of security.

That being said, we cannot guarantee absolute security. No organization can reasonably say that they are a 100% secure entity and the people associated with them are completely safe. However, rest assured that we are proactive in our security measures and are committed to keeping our users safe.

Log Data

We want to inform you that whenever you use the Fi$hFin app, in the case of an error in the app or to improve the performance of the app, we collect data and information (through third party products) on your phone called log data. This log data may include information such as your device IP address, device name, operating system version, configuration, the time and date of your use of the Service, and other relevant stats and attributes.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files containing a user ID that is automatically placed on the user’s computer or other device when they visit a website.

The Fi$hFin app does not use cookies explicitly. However, it may use third party code and libraries that use cookies to collect information and improve their services. The user has the option to either accept or refuse these cookies and know when a cookie is being sent to your device. If you choose to refuse our cookies, you may not be able to use some features that we have to offer.

Links to Other Sites

Fi$hFin app may contain links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services. Be careful and fully aware when entering any information on these external sites.

Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will be more than willing to help you immediately.

We may update our privacy policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page if there are any major changes.
